Open Letter to Producers and Directors

I have been a great admirer of Uday Kiran during my teenage years. He has become an idol to many youngsters who had dreams of becoming an actor.

He was the heartthrob to many girls.

With his “boy next door” looks and charming smile, he appealed to many segments of the audience, mostly teenage girls.

After all, he was one of those actors who didn’t have any film background or God father, and simply achieved success and stardom based upon his talent.

One thing that I noticed is his passion for films. He was very dedicated in his work and he lived for films.

The news about Uday Kiran deeply disturbed me.

The most disturbing fact is that he didn’t have anybody to discuss his growing troubles and his long struggle to get film offers.

I pondered upon many questions.

Is Telugu film industry, a tough field to survive?
Do producers only write stores based upon star image?
Do they simply follow a “star” and overlook “talent?”
Why is it so hard to believe that a GOOD SCRIPT is the key ingredient to the success of the film? (e.g. Uyyala Jampala)
Why is it so hard for Film industry to understand that audience accepts films based upon the script not the actor!!!!! (e.g. Okka Magadu)

I believe that there is a lot of talent with in the telugu film industry.

I urge the producers and directors to look for talent rather than “star image”.

I believe that a good script is the main ingredient to the film’s success.

The “star image” may bring the audience to the theater, but it is the talent and good script that sustains in the long run.

Please do not get under the perception that “star image” is the only saving grace for a film to achieve its success.

Please do not ignore talent of many youngsters in the industry and destroy their dreams by following the monotonous rule of the industry – sign a “star” and the movie is a hit!

Please provide an opportunity for the upcoming talent to create a diverse environment of talented actors, producers, directors, technicians, etc.

This will glorify Telugu Film industry and it is a crucial step for the industry to sustain
